Mozza tops Dundee’s list for pizza

At the top of our list is Mozza and one thing their website doesn’t lack is modesty with the title “The Word According to the Pizza Gods” leaping out at you from the main page.

He goes on to say that his Neapolitan pizzas are no ordinary and have the best taste, flavor and perfect fusion of ingredients. Each pizza, he adds, is cooked to perfection in “just 60 passionate seconds.”

Despite two recent dodgy reviews, other guests have come away very satisfied.

Luigi’s has been feeding the people of Dundee for over 100 years, across 5 generations.

One wrote: ‘Admittedly we got to the mozzar quite late in the evening so we were rushed but the staff were still friendly to serve.

“The pizza is quick, consistent and well done. Our food could have been a bit warmer, warmed plates would certainly be nice. The price can’t be complained about, so cheap it’s lovely.

“Definitely recommend to anyone in the mood for a quick bite, would be good in a group but book ahead. Can’t say anything bad about it, we will definitely be back.”

While another said: “Fantastic pizza that reminds me of Italy. I really enjoyed the food here. The staff were really friendly although it seemed to be understaffed, the food arrived very quickly and it was delicious. Thank you!”

Dominique, Ben & Maria carry on the family heritage by offering “a blend of traditional tastes with a modern flavor”.

Their website states that they enjoy “creating good, honest, and tasty food” and pride themselves on “preparing their food at home every day from scratch.”

Critics were impressed.

One wrote: “Good Italian pizzas, also arancini and bites of haggis, delicious. My 28 year old son had the perfect birthday tea!”

While another said: “Deeeelicious Delicious food with super friendly and helpful staff! We highly recommend Luigi’s and look forward to returning! Thank you very much.

The latest reviews were left in late December with one visitor writing: “Unpretentious little restaurant. Lovely fresh food served by friendly and attentive staff. The house red is nice too! If we lived in Dundee we would come back often.”

And another adding: “Quiet and felt very safe tonight, food was great, wine was a really good deal, service was polite, attentive and not overpowering, my kind of place, I really enjoyed the whole evening and fantastic value for money.”
