A beloved pizzeria in Glasgow’s Southside has announced its closure.

Stefano’s Pizzeria announced the news to its loyal customers on Facebook last week.

The owners said the restaurant would remain open for “a few months” but did not disclose a closing date.

The message read: “Hello pizza guys, well the word got out…

“I decided after almost 2 decades to hang up the pizza stick.

“I’m still going to work for a few more months, so please come and see us before I leave.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working in the Southside for all these years and we will all miss you dearly.

“Thank you for your custom and all the laughs.”

The regulars took advantage of the comments to express their disappointment but also to wish good luck to the pizza maker Janine.

A customer wrote: “I am so sad that Stefano is not here. I’m not home often, but just seeing this sign comforts me and connects me to a very important part of my life.

Another local commented, “I can’t believe my favorite pizzeria is closing.”

A third comment read, “Absolutely thrilled for you. The pizza will of course run out…need to place a weekly order before these doors close!”

Another regular said: “Noooooo! Really sad day for the south side! Good luck to all for the future! Make sure this secret recipe is passed on!”

Stefano’s Pizzeria is located on Cathcart Road and was established in 1983.
