Los Angeles – Sometimes love can be painful, but this tasty Valentine’s Day tribute to legendary rocker Joan Jett from a Los Angeles pizzeria slaps the face – in the best way. To honor Jett, whose iconic hit “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” just turned 40, PIZZANISTA! launches a limited edition Joan Jett x PETA pie with a black heart-shaped crust – a nod to the Blackhearts and Jett’s big heart for animals. Bad reputation fans can also mark the occasion outside the pizzeria, where colorful murals by artist Tait Roelofs provide an inviting backdrop for Instagram snaps.
“Joan Jett said if there’s anything she loves more than rock ‘n’ roll, it’s animals, so this edgy vegan pizza is the perfect tribute,” Lisa Lange said, Senior Vice President of PETA. “Anyone who wants to follow his lead should stop supporting the dirty deeds of the meat and dairy industries and go vegan.”
People who go vegan save animals immense suffering; reduce their own risk of suffering from heart disease, cancer and stroke; significantly reduce their carbon footprint; and help prevent future pandemics.
The Jett Tribute will run for four months beginning January 22, with a 20% discount for PETA members. This special pizza will fill the heart as well as the stomach, as $2 from every purchase will go to support PETA’s work to save lives.
PETA — whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” — opposes speciesism, a human supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, Where instagram.
