Marijuana-Focused Career Fair Held at Mt. Carmel Pizzeria

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. (WEHT) — A hiring event aimed at bringing new people into the cannabis industry was held in Mount Carmel on Monday.

Verano hosted a local job fair to attract new faces to its Ataraxis plant in Albion, Illinois. They first held a hiring event over the weekend in Olney, and moved south for another event in Wabash County.

The job fair, held inside Rosati’s Pizza, focused on hiring people for their cultivation and production specialist positions.

“In 13 state-of-the-art cultivation and production facilities, sustainably designed to accommodate the unique seasonality and climate of each region we serve, our expert growers thoughtfully tend our library national signature strain,” he says on Verano.com. “This way, we ensure that every Verano plant is organic, local and exceptionally effective, every time.

Verano says the grow specialist is responsible for processing dry cannabis flower, supporting the manufacturing of cannabis-infused products, and assembling and packaging finished products for distribution.

In contrast, the Production Specialist is responsible for supporting day-to-day cannabis cultivation operations during the life stages of the plant, from veg to pre-harvest.

Both positions, we are told, pay $16 an hour. Our Eyewitness News team visited the event and reports that the venue was mostly filled with empty tables with few to no people. Hiring event ends at 7 p.m. Click here for more information.
