Expect a Polk County landmark to reopen in 2022, right across the Rockmart High School freeway and a short walk from where it once stood.
Pizza Farm was once located on Knox Mountain Road upstream from Rockmart High School before a fire destroyed the property in early 2021. Now, a year later, the new restaurant is under construction not far from the old one. on Marquette Road, off Hwy 113., directly across from the school complex.
Owner Tommy Sanders reported that since family and friends gathered for a ceremony and started digging in August, construction has advanced and now real progress is underway as the new facility is set to be weather resistant, which means they can start working indoors.
Despite weather delays in recent weeks, construction is progressing and Sanders has said Pizza Farm will be open early this year.
“I think we will be open again by mid-February,” he said. Although this is on hold for any further weather delays that may hamper construction work. However, since the building is dry, this will allow workers to move inside to complete interior work and prepare for an opening day as soon as possible.
Sanders thanked the community for their continued interest in the progress and said more announcements would be available soon.
It has been a full year since the fire that destroyed the old Pizza Farm, which had housed the restaurant for nearly five decades.
