A pizza-loving mum whose obesity left her son ashamed to be seen with her on the run to school celebrates after cutting a huge six stone.

Becky White, 41, dropped from 17th to 11th place after giving up her passion for the high-calorie takeaway.

Becky says: “I was devastated when I realized my son was ashamed of me, but at the same time I could understand why. Now that I’ve lost weight, he’s so proud of me.

“My partner and I love going to the races but I had gotten so fat I couldn’t fit into a dress. Since my weight loss I have a new dress and we had a great day at the races.

Becky, from Bolton, started gaining weight after leaving home for college. She had two children, Harvey, now 18, and Evlynn, 14, but her relationship broke down and she gained weight again.

At just 5 feet tall, she tipped the scales at 17 stone 9 pounds and was a dress size 24.

She says, “I loved pizza and ate whole packages of donuts and chocolate bars. I had a few bad relationships and my confidence suffered, so I just ate more.

“My son started asking me to drop him off near school, not school, and I realized he was ashamed of me.

“It was upsetting but I could understand why he felt like that.

“I met a new partner, Mark, who is fit and active, but I was too big to even go for a walk with him. We like to go to the races to treat ourselves now, but before we got to the stadium where I was too fat to fit in a dress and my feet were burning with the extra weight I was carrying.

“I became very worried that he would leave me for someone slimmer, even though he was very supportive of me. I realized that I had to change.”

In November 2020, Becky signed up for the Cambridge 1:1 plan.

She says, “I found the plan so easy to follow because I didn’t have to think about counting calories.”

To date, Becky has lost six stone and now weighs 11 stone and 9 pounds.

She says, “I feel sexier and more stylish because now I can shop in all the big stores and try new fashions. We went to the races last year, and I was wearing a pretty dress. I felt like a million dollars.

“Better yet, Harvey is really proud of me.

“Recently he bumped into an old school friend who said he didn’t recognize me because of my weight loss. Harvey was really happy.

“I know my weight has been an issue for him in the past, but I’m happy to have made him proud now.”

Inspired by her own journey, Becky has now trained as a 1:1 diet consultant in Bolton – supporting others on their weight loss journey through face-to-face meetings, Instagram and Facebook.
