BUTTERWORT: About twenty young people from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saints Chastan and Imbert gathered for the pizza evening at the Café de la Nativité on July 23.
The aim was to bring young people together for a night of complicity and camaraderie after a two-year break due to the pandemic.
The parish priest, Father Dominic Santhiyagu, began the evening with a prayer and a reading from the Gospel of Luke (11, 1-13). He asked the young people about prayer and shared some methods by which they can pray to God, such as reciting the Rosary, participating in Mass, singing hymns of adoration. He then invited everyone to recite the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, the “Our Father”.
After that, Fr. Dom introduced the new youth leaders – Angela Tomas for Tamil Youth, Lawrence Soon for Mandarin Youth, Yohann Prakash for Junior Youth and Hemandra Prasat a/l Josef as the new Parish Coordinator of the youth replacing Nicholas Ooi. Father Dom hoped that the new leaders would bring the young people together and serve the parish.
There was a variety of food, games and links. Several young people had fun making pizzas with Father Dom at the Café de la Nativité. It was a memorable evening and the young people hope to have more gatherings to strengthen their bonds and walk together in faith. — nbvmscic.org
