Spicy One Skillet Cheese Lasagna Recipe Is Husband Approved | Pasta

Tonight my husband cooked dinner for us! He’s been making more recipes for me lately, and it’s cute to watch him cook. This easy one pot spicy lasagna recipe was so good!

The cheesy pasta recipe features spicy Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, and three cheeses. It will definitely solve that pasta craving!

Servings: 6 to 8


  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 3 shallots, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest (from 2 lemons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 bunch broccoli rave, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 jar (25 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 8 ounces no cook lasagna noodles
  • 1 1/2 cups grated parmesan
  • 16 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into large chunks
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a ovenproof skillet medium heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up as you stir, until cooked through and browned, about 7 minutes.
  2. Add the shallots and garlic and cook for about 3 minutes.
  3. Add lemon zest and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring, 2 minutes more.
  4. Add the broccoli rabe and the salt. Cook until the broccoli rabe softens, about 2 minutes. Pour the mixture into a bowl.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the pan. Add the remaining marinara to the sausage mixture. Mix well.
  6. Spread half of the lasagna noodles over the marinara in the skillet, breaking them up if necessary to fit. Cover with the sausage mixture. Add 3/4 cup Parmesan and half the mozzarella. Layer with the remaining noodles. Cover with the rest of the sausage mixture. Garnish with the remaining cheese and Gruyère.
  7. Bake in preheated 375 degree F oven for about 40 minutes or until bubbling and golden on top.
