The suspect who detained an employee inside a pizzeria has been captured

At 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, SWAT members entered the Hungry Howie restaurant in Altamonte Springs where a man had taken an employee hostage inside. a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance. The employee who was taken hostage did not make an appearance, so it is unknown what the status of the hostage is. Law enforcement appears to be investigating the site of the hostage situation inside the pizzeria. Police have failed to clear the scene and deem the area safe. This came after an eight-hour standoff between the suspect and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team. Around 5:20 p.m. Monday night, police responded to the Hungry Howie’s at 491 North State Road 434 when they learned it was a hostage situation. Police said a man inside the restaurant had what appeared to be a gun with an orange tip. An’s wife reportedly called the police earlier saying her husband had made suicide threats. Shops near the Place Saint-Sébastien shopping center were evacuated.

After several bangs were heard and smoke filled the air, the suspect was seen being taken out of the pizzeria on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.

The employee who was taken hostage did not make an appearance, so it is unknown what the status of the hostage is.

Law enforcement appears to be investigating the hostage-taking site inside the pizzeria.

The police did not clear the scene and did not deem the area safe.
