Woman hit in the head by stranger while walking near Pizza Express at 11am

A woman was hit in the head by an unknown person while walking near Pizza Express. The victim was treated for a minor injury after the mid-morning assault in Somerset Town Street.

She was walking down a lane just off the High Street at 11am when a young man started becoming verbally abusive. He then punched her in the back of the head.

Now police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to about the incident. Officers are hoping a member of the public witnessed the assault which happened at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022.

A statement from Avon and Somerset Police reads: ‘Have you witnessed a woman assaulted on the street in the last month? The incident happened around 11am on Friday May 20 in a alley just off the High Street near Pizza Express.

“The victim was walking when a stranger verbally assaulted her before punching her in the back of the head. Paramedics attended to treat her for a minor injury, but she did not need help. to be hospitalized.

“CCTV investigations have been conducted and we are releasing an image of a man we want to speak with about this investigation.”

The white man is described as being in his twenties, slim in build and with blond hair. He is seen wearing a blue hooded top, blue jeans, and a blue mask.
